Journal 2
I think that between the first and final draft I improved
the most in connecting my writing back to my thesis. I feel like my first draft
was vague and disconnected. In my final draft, all of my paragraphs connected
back to my thesis. My essay got stronger when I connected everything back to a
central argument.
I learned two important things throughout this process. The
first being that having multiple drafts improves my writing and takes away some
of the stress that I associated with writing for school. The second being that
the conferences definitely improved my writing because it gave me a list of
things to improve on.
If I had another week, I would go back and make certain
paragraphs get to the point. I feel like my writing is strongest in the first
couple of pages. There are probably ways that I could improve the structure of
certain sentences.
No, I wouldn’t rewrite the prompt if I would. This is
probably the most interesting writing assignment I have ever had. I enjoyed the
story and movie that I chose to analyze. I would maybe have changed the word
count. I thought two thousand words was going to be a five-paragraph essay. I
was definitely wrong.
