Journal 2
- While working on the first project, I think that my biggest improvement was my growth in detail and analysis. In the first draft, I focused more on getting my broad/main ideas on paper and organizing them within my thesis. Because of that, I didn’t spend enough time on picking out fine details to compare and analyze. I think my lack of detail in the first draft was due to the fact that I knew I had opportunities in the future to fix my writing, so I didn't put in enough effort the first time around. By my last draft, I focused mainly on perfecting the details and tying them back to the thesis.
- The most important takeaway that I got from this project was the opportunity to practice/get better at analyzing genres and their conventions, because I had never previously written a paper like this. In the past, I’ve written papers that required details, examples, etc. but I definitely learned how to analyze in a different way. Also, I found that I did better at giving constructive criticism than I used to in the past because I spent more time and put in more effort in my peer reviews in hopes that I would get the same effort in return.
- If I had another week to work on my essay, I think that I would've gone back and watched a few episodes of Riverdale again and read some of the comics so that I could've written a paragraph on the similarities in the characters actions/personalities between the two genres, watching and reading in order to get a more detailed perspective on their specific dialogue, actions, body language, etc.
- If I could rewrite the project prompt, I wouldn’t change it because I liked the challenge of comparing two genres and the fact that they had to be from a different time period. It was very detailed.
