Journal 2: Prompt

1. Especially after my conference, I think I improved my organization throughout my essay after writing three drafts. My first draft was kind of like just three really long paragraphs, but I was able to break up my thoughts into more organized sections and group my ideas together better so they were less all over the place.

2. I learned a lot about the pre-writing process so far in this class. I never really thought about writing multiple drafts before. It always just seemed like more work to me, but after writing three drafts I was able to see how much it can actually help. I feel like my final draft was more well thought out and organized than my essays usually are. I also learned about organizing my thoughts and doing research and writing an outline before even starting my first draft, which is really helpful to me because starting my essay is always the toughest part for me.

3. If I had another week to work on my essay, I think I would work on doing more research and adding more specific examples to help rove my points. When I had my conference, that's what was pointed out to me that would make my arguments stronger. If I had more time, I would probably go back and read more about the behind the scenes effort that went into some of the scenes I wrote about, because knowing the producers' purposes would help strengthen my arguments about how they used certain techniques to do certain things with the movie and T.V. show.

4. I don't think I would change anything, I thought the prompt was pretty clear and I didn't have any questions or complaints.

  1. Hi Dana
I'm happy that our conference was of big help to you. Also, it's great to learn that your pre-writing experience was enjoyable and taught you more about writing.
