John Martinez Topic Proposal Ideas

For my topic, I'm unsure of what I should use for my paper. While I know the syllabus recommends sticking close to your major, I haven't gone far enough in my major to really know enough to write an academic paper on some minute part of advertising. I could write about video games, though what exactly about it I am unsure. Perhaps I could talk about the effects of microtransactions/DLC on the games itself and the perceived community disdain for these types of economies. This may be difficult to find reliable sources for though. I could talk a bit about writing, perhaps about the issue of tropes on writing for movies/television and the effects its had on entertainment. Again, may be difficult to find information. Digital currency is pretty interesting, perhaps that could be an interesting topic to use and relate to my major. Some questions I could possibly use:
- How do microtransactions/DLC in video games affect a video games sale figures?
- Do microtransactions/DLC in games harm their brand among players?
- How is the overuse of writing tropes affecting the entertainment industry in media such as movies and television?
- How does digital currency such as bitcoin affect existing markets in the economy?
