John Martinez Journal 2 Prompt
While writing project 1, I believe I improved the most on my analysis of the two different genres between my first and final drafts. My first draft, while heavy on detail and example, lacked clear and concise reasoning and analysis as to why this was important. My second draft improved this greatly, becoming far cleared in its message to the reader. My final draft polished the analysis for presentation, fixing minor mistakes and making it stronger overall.
The most important thing I learned from the project is to redo drafts several times to help fix your writing. Simple writing out an essay and turning it in doesn't work very well and will often be laden with errors that you may not be able to see. Drafting and revising can help fix these errors and create a far stronger piece in the end.
If I had another week to work on my essay, I don't think I would have changed much. I was pretty satisfied with my final product. I would most likely just improve my grammar and diction in the piece while keeping an eye out for any errors that had alluded me before.
If I could rewrite the project prompt in the syllabus, I would probably change the limit of the year's something was made. I felt this was really arbitrary and limiting with what we could compare in terms of genre. There are many good ideas for comparisons of genres that weren't allowed simply because both were made before or after 2000.
