Chapter 7 Response

Chapter 7 was basically a detailed description of all the citations that I learned in high school. It was a good refresher and gave me a few little nuggets of information that I didn't know about previously. I love parenthetical citations so I found it useful to read the first part of the chapter to get even better at them. I did think that the overview was a little overdone and borderline useless but I understand the purpose of the book as a point of reference. I did think that the section on plagiarism was informative in that it really showed exactly what can be counted as plagiarism. It helped me out with the whole "summary" thing because I think I'm pretty bad about that. I will definitely be going back to this chapter to check myself out just in case before I turn in my paper.

  1. I also thought it was a good review for us but also a little excessive however it's a good tool to use as a guideline for our papers. I'll probably also have to refer back to it a few times just to be sure I'm doing everything correctly. I found that the section on plagiarism was good as well and will be useful since plagiarism is taken much more seriously in college it's definitely something I want to avoid doing.

  2. The part about plagiarism was great to review. Plagiarism is basically the greatest offense you can commit in any college class, so being clear on what count as being copying really saves our skins. Having this book as a direct step by step can only be an aid in writing this research paper, even if reading it is a bit boring with all the old information.

  3. I found it to be a little repetitive on the guidelines that I was familiar with, but I found myself wanting more examples on the guidelines that I didn't learn in high school. I agree that I will also be using this chapter as a reference for future papers.
