Chapter 5

     The chapter five reading was pretty informative but mainly because it helped me refresh my memory. I have had a decent amount of experience in writing research papers so it touched on strategies I was familiar with but also gave me some helpful tips. A few examples of the ideas that I will use when writing is to look out for subtopics and to find external links on websites to be guided to similar information. These strategies will help by adding more dimensions to my paper that I usually would not have touched on. One of my favorite points from the reading was to work from a research question and then refine it into a specific topic. I always have found it challenging to create a specific question and usually just wrote whatever I thought of before researching particular ideas. This will be beneficial because the topic determines the whole paper and therefore effects how smoothly the rest of the writing and research will go. In the past, I have made the mistake of choosing too broad of a topic which made it hard to determine what direction to go with the paper because I did not know how to connect all of the points. I will definitely look back at this chapter for guidance and ideas when I am struggling with my paper, overall a great refresher!
