This Chapter is is a very helpful one even though I assume we have all written research papers before in our lives. The fact of the matter is that coming up with a idea that you're passionate about is quite difficult majority of the time and this passage tells how to brain storm and enjoy in the end what you choose to write about. Being allowed to pick our research topic should take the ease off writing it since we decide what passion or topic we want others to learn about, this way we can submerge in to a topic more. The chapter really elaborated on how to make research papers more about your enjoyment, so that the paper is something the author will work hard on. When the Author enjoys the research he/she is doing the paper becomes much better in quality since they will try even harder to improve it since they are passionate about the message involved . Besides elaborating on ensuring you enjoy your topic, the chapter also goes in depth about avoiding bias to a extent, and bettering one's research ability to enhance the paper that much more. Finally it also tells us what to avoid in a research paper, since there is such a wide variety of topics it is good to have a criteria of what to ask yourself in order to avoid bad topics.
I agree with you, I think that everyone has written a research paper before. But, I do think that this chapter was very helpful and informative. It is always helpful to have the basics broken down and re explained to you when you are doing something even if you know what you are doing. I also think that picking your own topic makes for a better essay. It was very helpful that they stated the things to avoid in the research paper.
