CHAPTER 5 RESPONSE WOOT WOOOOOOOOOT

I found Chapter 5 to be a great review on writing research papers. I wrote quite a bit of them in high school, but that ended about five months ago, so it was really nice to have a refresher.

One of the things I really found helpful was the section on brainstorming. I have found that when I am tasked with an assignment such as this, I tend to over stress myself a bit. However, the title of this section literally reads "Read, Talk, Sketch, Enjoy." So I took the author's advice and conversed with some of my fellow peers about potential topics, and finally narrowed it down to one. At one point, I had ten potential topics, which I was pretty happy about, because in class I didn't feel that I had any quality ideas come about. Now, after reading this chapter, I feel confident about my topic.

Another thing I really liked about this topic was how it gave you details on how to write a proper proposal. Personally, I've never submitted a proposal for a research paper before; I just told my teacher what my topic was and then began writing. It was really great to learn the proper way to write one, and I can now say that I feel ready to write my proposal now.

Overall, Chapter 5 was very helpful and a great review.

  1. I totally feel the same way when it came to being stressed about this assignment but like you this chapter helped me sort through some ideas. I also have never written a proposal so I made sure that I paid attention to that part of the chapter. Another part of the chapter that stuck out to me was the working bibliography, overall great post!

  2. You seem very on top of your research paper, I'm impressed! I have also never submitted a formal proposal so it was brand new information for me that there is a formal way to do it. I'm excited to hear about your topic for the paper and enjoyed reading your thoughts on chapter 5!!
