Annoying Ways Response
This article is probably my favorite one to have read so far. It taught me so many quotation tips and strategies that I never knew about. The author comparison of poor quotation and citation use to driving behind a slow driver made me realize how importation proper quotation and citation is to writing a great academic essay. This article taught me how to properly set up a quotation or citation the right way. The tips I appreciated the most was the Dating Spider-Man tip. I never thought that about the radical use of quotations to start and end paragraphs until read this paper. I think this reading appealed to me so much because the author approached this essay in way that would be educational but also entertaining. The author used real life situations, figures, and personal experience explain his methods of proper quote use. The author made this essay funny & relatable, which grabbed my attention from the start. I would recommend using this article for reference whenever writing an academic essay that will utilize quotations & citations from all resources.
I personally really enjoyed this article as well. It had a lot of good humor in it while also staying really informative about quotation and citation. The comparison between sloppy writing and slow drivers really helped emphasize how much poor citation can pull a reader out of a paper. The tips I felt were really good and are a fairly good reference to avoid mistakes the author mentions. The author making it humorous and relatable were a nice plus in contrast with everything else we have had to read. Good post!
ReplyDeleteI also super enjoyed the Spider-man tip. I don't know why but I found that so entertaining and really related to the text after that. The more relatable or personable the piece is the more interested in what the author is saying I becoming, even if all they're talking about it sources.
ReplyDeleteThis article is 16 pages, but it didn't feel like it because of the humor and language. I normally put off these reading responses if I start to read the article and I don't vibe with it, however, this article was immediately interesting to me and I loved the creativity. I think as a class we all enjoyed this post.
ReplyDeleteI too really enjoyed the author's comparisons. They were humorous, yet helpful. I really like when authors use relatable examples because when that happens I really feel that I get a better grasp on what they are trying to say; it pulls me in.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you and I liked the Spiderman comparison too! A lot of the points he brought up were things that I never usually remember to think about because they're seen as "common sense". I'm definitely going to reference this article on our next project since were going to have to be implementing more citations and outside research. I'm glad that it was helpful yet enjoyable to read because I'm more likely to benefit from it in the future!
