Project 1 Shitty First Draft
Honestly I never really thought about what it would be like to create this first draft the only thing I can say is that it definitely is shitty. I tried to take everything from "Shitty First Drafts" and put it into my writing. My first draft was similar in the way that I tried to just pour all of my ideas onto the paper and not have a worry about editing. During this process I noticed a difference between the two and that is that it was actually hard for me to try to not fix it and make it perfect. I am glad that I read "Shitty First Drafts" because it made the starting process not as hard as it usually is for me.
I think we all expected our first draft to be shitty. While I am sure nobody here went out of their way to make their first draft terrible, I am sure that throughout the writing process, our final product will prove this first draft to be absolute garbage, which I am honestly looking forward to. I too agree that the article was helpful to this writing process.
ReplyDeleteI also found that it was way easier to start writing using this method so I appreciated that. I definitely need to do some serious editing afterwards because like you said, what I wrote was pretty shitty. I think I have to wait to see my final product before I decide whether or not this method is one I should adopt.
ReplyDeleteIt did make the draft easier to approach and I agree mine was shitty as well. I think it will get somewhat easier once I get accustomed to this new strategy.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I just wanted to get my thoughts out and hoped that it wouldn't sound too stupid. I still went back and revised my writing as a wrote though. It's difficult to write and not worry about how your paper sounds. I know I will need to make a ton of revisions but I enjoyed this exercise.
