P1 First Draft
Shitty First Drafts really helped me realize that my writing does not have to be perfect the first time. This helped me to be able to get all my thoughts out on the page much faster. It is definitely not the best thing I have ever written, by far, but it is a good enough first draft. Since I am a perfectionist, it was a little painful trying to write this quickly without making it absolutely amazing. I tried to make it as good as I could but I know that if I keep working with this material and tweaking it, my final draft will be the perfect thing that I usually want my first draft to be. I kind of appreciate this idea of a "shitty first draft" because I think it will help me become a better writer. I was a good writer in high school, but I think that this process will make me better. I also really like this assignment. It is way more fun than any high school assignment I had where there was a clear set of rules. It was fun getting to pick one of my favorite movies as the basis for my project.
I totally understand you. For me I cannot just write everything down without having some sort of plan or organization to it prior to starting, so when I started writing without having some thought I did notice that I was able to write more down but it bothered me that i would go on the awful tangents and lose track of what I was saying.
