I genuinely enjoyed this excerpt. Through clever anecdotes and humorous quips, Lamott is able to grab and hold the reader's attention and address
Although the passage is about literature, the audience is not just learning about how to be a better writer but also how to conquer everyday challenges because people can sometimes get very caught up in their own heads and the hardest part can be starting. I always say it is like the high dive because it's scary as you're standing at the top but as soon as you hit the water you know you'll be fine.
I found this article to be very relatable. It inspired me as a writer but also as a student who often finds herself overwhelmed and has difficulty tackling responsibilities due to anxieties. I appreciate Lamott's ability to create a humorous, relatable piece that quells my fears about an honest first try and I also appreciate your choice to have us read this piece.

  1. I couldn't agree with you any more I felt that the article was very helpful as well. Also I loved your analogy about it being like a high dive scary but once you hit the water you know you'll be fine after I read that I felt it should have been in the passage itself. While I do agree with most of your statements I can't about the humor I felt it was very dry but I'm glad someone enjoyed it.

  2. I really relate to what you said about feeling overwhelmed when having to tackle responsibilities. I always have trouble with this too and when I have a paper to write I find it really hard to just start it. I also liked how you related this concept not to just writing but to tackling everyday challenges.
