Chris Link Shitty First Draft Project 1
Writing my first draft
was a lot like the description in the “Shitty First Draft’s” prompt. I didn’t
create an outline or come up with a game plan, I just started typing and it all
flowed naturally. I feel like I definitely have some revising and corrections
to do, but for a first draft I’m proud of my work. My writing process was also
a lot like the writer in Shitty First Draft’s. I was extremely worried about
the quality of my work and how it would hold up, but once I started writing I
realized it would be ok. It turned out to be much more interesting than I thought
it would be to write an essay about adaptations of famous past works and I
think my topic of Prince and the Pauper was a good choice due to how well it
works even in modern times. I’m excited to revise and rework my essay until it
reaches its full potential.
I'm happy you feel so confident in your topic. I had difficulty beginning my rough draft because i could not decide whether to write about The Great Gatsby or Cinderella. While my classmates advised me to write about Gatsby because of the obvious literary merit I felt like I knew more about Cinderella and musicals. I share your enthusiasm about continuing to improve our essays.
ReplyDeleteI also had a similar writing experience to yours, as we both did not bother to plan what we were going to write. Typically, when I write essays or any literary piece I usually just begin writing and the rest comes naturally. The hardest part about writing for me is getting started, but once you do it is hard to stop.
