Chapter 1

Chapter 1 has been a good review about what I have learned in my previous english classes. Genre is a very important thing to consider while writing. There are many different types of genres and while writing it is important to establish what genre you are looking to fit in. Your genre should be mostly based on your audience and your purpose of writing. Rhetoric was also discussed during this chapter. In a rhetorical situation it is also important for you to consider your audience and purpose. This chapter has helped me learn a lot more about genre. Since many pieces of writings can fit into two separate genres it is important for writers to always ask themselves which genre they are trying to fit into to stay in the right one. The language you are using during your writing can also heavily influence the genre it is being fit into. This chapter was a good way to refresh my memory on genre and has also taught me things that I feel can improve my writing.
