Remix
I feel that the issues being discussed in this introduction are rather far-fetched and ridiculous. The intent of the video made was clear; to entertain with a video of a child dancing to a song. There are cases where copyright infringement does happen on websites like YouTube where people play a track with intent of sharing the music with others and passing it off as their own, but with the ways that social media platforms and websites have become so prominent today, it’s sometimes hard to tell what peoples intent is. For example, how would you handle a situation where someone creates a lyric video on YouTube. Were their intentions to pass off the music as their own, or to simply share the song lyrics with people who wanted them? I think that music can be borrowed in cases where it is not being replicated for purpose of stealing ownership or providing an alternate way to listen to it. I feel that lyric music videos are not infringing on the law if they haven't already been made by the artist and/or their record company. Also, I think that laws regarding music should be treated the same way as copyright and plagiarism rules with writing and print. If the author or singer is given credit to, copyright is stated, and the music isn’t obviously being portrayed as their own, I think that borrowing the music is okay.
