i think that creativity and art comes from the world around you therefore trying to make a new piece of art work, write a new song, or even produce a new video is impossible to do without the influence of others who you think of as inspirations. i think some of the issues presented in the introduction were outrageous, especially the first one. if a company sues a mom for posting such an innocent video then as a society we have hit rockbottom where such an innocent thing becomes a paycheck. the only scenario that i sort of understand is the one of Gregg because I can see on something like that why permission is needed but i think that the issue was taken way too far. The scenario of Candice Breitz is also quite dumb, because its fans singing the song, it is not the music video of the artist or even the artists himself so it is outrageous that you can not even publish something of people singing someones song. i think with the internet and media use nowadays its is increasingly difficult to control copyrights, there are thousands of song paradoys on youtube and of videos with background music. i think that as long as you are not selling the authors rights as your own there should be no copyright problem as long as credit is given in the scenarios in the introduction, i understand there are different more severe cases but from what i read i think that none of these cases screamed copyright to me.
