LessigRemixIntro
The LessigRemixIntro was a different read for me yet very interesting. It brought up many points about copyright issues that I have never looked thoroughly into before. The first example concerning the eighteen-month-old dancing to Prince was ridiculous considering Youtube was forced to take it down. As the reading mentioned, the music was poor quality and would never be used with the intent of replication. This is absurd keeping in mind that it was an innocent video with a young child that was shared to make people laugh.
My opinion on this topic is that videos with a song in the background should be allowed to be created if its intention is not to give away free music. In addition, if the video does feature music, there should be credit given to the artist whether the song is intended for distribution or not. Copyright can be an issue that needs to be looked into because of the increased use of technology, but I believe there should not be consequences for posting innocent videos. I do understand that this can be a difficult line to draw, but companies should not be overstepping their power on videos created just to make people laugh.
