Ch9
Chapter 9 was a good review of what my high school teachers taught me. A huge part of it seemed to be common sense but I hope it was still helpful to people. The examples are helpful however the chapter could have been more interesting with more creative writing. I personally wish the chapter had talked about other genres and mediums rather than predominantly focusing on blogs memoirs. My only experience with blogs has been this blog that is a class requirement. I don't expect to continue using a blog in the future so that part of the chapter felt less interesting and less applicable to me and my writing style. The chapter was also focused on memoir and seeing as I don't plan to live an interesting enough life to fill a memoir, it also felt less applicable to me. Still it was a good review on the importance of revising and I will take the information and examples used and apply it to my current projects.
I completely agree with how you felt the chapter didn't have enough variety. It covered topics that I don't necessarily find myself dealing with everyday, and often times I felt like the chapter was too focused on the essays being edited and not enough detail about the chapter and what it was meant to cover. Despite that, I agree that it was a good refresher of high school learned skills that will hopefully come in handy with our projects we work on!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way, I don't plan on keeping a blog so this isn't really useful to me. I really, really wished it had covered creative writing as well, as editing and peer review for creative endeavors is a whole other beast with its own unique challenges. Still though, it was a decent review and hopefully it helps other people out. Using this information and applying it to your current projects is all you can really do at this point, hopefully it is useful to you.
